Official Contacts and Records
The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office is the starting point for county jail custody, booking sheets, and booking photographs. Its office is at 216 North Missouri, Jackson, MO 63755. The 24-hour non-emergency number is 573-243-3551. Administrative hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For jail matters, select Jail Division option 1. The jail also lists contactjail@capecountysheriff.org, though email is not a guarantee that a record request has reached the proper custodian.
The Sheriff warns that ordinary email is not secure for sensitive data and that online messages are not monitored around the clock. Call 911 in an emergency. For other needs, use the route that matches the record or custody stage:
- For a county booking profile or photograph, begin with the county arrest and roster guide, then ask the Sheriff’s records custodian for a formal copy.
- For a fresh booking, check Arrests Last 24 Hours and verify urgent questions with the Jail Division.
- For a city police incident report, contact the police department that made the arrest. The county jail may still hold the separate booking record.
- For a court filing or final disposition, use Missouri Case.net or contact the Cape Girardeau County Circuit Court Clerk.
- For a sentenced state prisoner or active state supervision, use the Missouri Department of Corrections Offender Search.
- For federal incarceration or immigration custody, use the official Bureau of Prisons or ICE locator.
- For release or transfer alerts, use the Missouri VINELink or MOVANS route and confirm participation with state or jail staff.
